Blue Whimsy

Hi friends,

The leaves are starting to turn here in northern Ohio and today is gorgeous!  I'm baking an apple cake as I write this and the house smells SOOOO Good...it hardly seems right to be blogging about a Christmas card, but here goes anyway.  Forgive me!

I got some new embossing folders this week and I especially like this one...it comes in a set of two:

#155433 Wintery 3D Embossing Folders

The card base is Misty Moonlight.  The embossing is separated from the beautiful blue by a 1/4" strip of Be Dazzling Specialty Paper.  The trio of trees (try saying that 3 times fast!) is mounted on a 2-3/4" circle cut from one of the patterns in the Whimsy & Wonder DSP pack.  The trees are die-cut from Silver Foil, Be Dazzling DSP and Blushing Bride cardstock.

Here's the list of supplies used on this card:
Have a wonderful week!

Delivering Cheer

Hi friends, this card is perfect for a technique that's an oldie but a goodie - Paper Piecing.  If you're not familiar with that term, it refers to stamping on patterned paper and then cutting certain parts of the image to add to another stamped image - on this card, the girl's skirt.

The white packages are brushed with Wink of Stella so they're really glittery and pretty.  I love the Wintry 3D Embossing Folder on the top half of the card - I just got it recently and I'm using it a lot!  I used Thick Basic White cardstock for the card base and regular weight Basic White for the layers.

This card uses 2 of the free items available during Sale-a-Bration - the plaid skirt is cut from Peaceful Prints DSP and the sparkly strip separating the top & bottom of the card is Be Dazzling Specialty Paper.

My stash of Christmas cards is growing every day!  I'll be sharing more of them with you from now until December.  Hope I can inspire you to start stamping yours early, too!

Slimline Card with the Penguin Playmates

Slimline cards are a fun way to change up your cardmaking!  I'll give you the dimensions I used on my card, but be sure to check the size of your envelope and adjust if needed.

I was inspired by this week's sketch challenge at Global Design Project - #GDP310.

This card uses a Sale-a-Bration freebie - Penguin Playmates Designer Paper.  All the animals were cut from that paper.  Yes, fussy-cut!  This just means that there's no special equipment required, just a good pair of Paper Snips!

Here are the dimensions for this Slimline Card:

Misty Moonlight card base 9-1/4" x 7-3/4", scored at 3-7/8"
Fresh Freesia mat 9" x 3-5/8"
Blue Whimsy & Wonder DSP 8-3/4" x 3-3/8"
Fresh Freesia Penguin Playmates DSP 8-3/4" x 1-1/4"

The greeting was cut with Seasonal Labels dies and mounted on Stampin' Dimensionals.

If you would like to re-create this card, just know that the Penguin Playmates Designer Paper is only available during Sale-a-Bration, which ends on September 30.  Best of all, it's FREE with a $50 purchase!
