Oh Joy for #GDP106

Hi, Friends!

Today once again I'm playing along with Global Design Project's sketch challenge - #GDP106.  Here's my take on this week's sketch:

And here is the sketch that inspired it:

I love the balance on this design - circle element offset to the right, banner to the left - everything about it just works.  I used two of the papers in the Be Merry Designer Series Paper on a Crumb Cake card base.  Love those red & white stripes - I wish I could get an entire stack of only that design but sadly, there are only two sheets in the pack.  I'm making the most of them, though!

The focal point of my card uses one of the beautiful stamps from Watercolor Christmas.  This is one of those stamp sets that tends to get overlooked in the catalog.  It's featured along with the Watercolor Christmas card kit, but stands on its own too.  Simple but elegant, the beautiful ribbon-like script font is a standout!

The cute little reindeer comes from the Cookie Cutter Christmas stamp set in the annual catalog. This was my favorite stamp set from the 2015 Holiday Catalog and I still go back to it over & over. She's stamped with Archival Black on Crumb Cake and punched out with the Cookie Cutter punch.  Her hair bow (fur bow?) is done in Cherry Cobbler.

A single Black Rhinestone Jewel dots the "j" and a simple bow of linen thread completes my card.  I can envision a lot of different ways to make this card using the circle element and the reindeer.  What ideas do you have?  I hope you'll try some & share them with me!

Happy First Day of Autumn!

Hi Friends,

Fall is officially here.  There's a different feel in the air and, of course, all the vibrant colors of fall are sprouting everywhere.  So now that it's official, Happy Fall, Y'all!

Let's make a beautiful fall-themed birthday card to celebrate!

Here I've used Vintage Leaves, one of my all-time favorite stamp sets.  The card base is made from Thick Whisper White.  On a 1-1/2" x 5-1/2" strip of regular weight Whisper White, I randomly stamped one of the smaller leaves in the set using Sahara Sand, So Saffron, Pear Pizzazz & Calypso Coral.  The leaves all hang off the edge of the cardstock - when you finish stamping it looks like a cut strip of designer paper!  This strip gets layered on top of a 1-3/4" x 5-1/2" piece of Copper Foil Sheet.

I used a technique called "thumping" to make this multi-colored maple leaf.  It's a fun technique that produces different results every time - there were lots of "ooh's & aah's" when the ladies made this card at my last class!  Simply ink the maple leaf in the normal manner, using the lightest color you have chosen to work with.  In this case, we used So Saffron.  Then take sponge daubers, one for each color you choose to add, and apply more ink directly to the stamp randomly.  Here we've added Sahara Sand, Pear Pizzazz & Calypso Coral on top of the So Saffron ink.

"Happy Birthday" is part of the Special Celebrations stamp set.  I stamped it using Early Espresso ink and die-cut it with the Stitched Shapes Framelits.  The maple leaf and the greeting are both adhered to the card front with Stampin' Dimensionals.  There's another multi-colored leaf stamped on the inside of the card and one more on the envelope.

Two 10" pieces of Linen Thread tied together into a bow and attached with a glue dot finish this project.  I love the coppery accents on this card - so much prettier in person, but you get the idea!

Inspiration is everywhere...nothing matches the beauty of an autumn day.

Painted Harvest Gift Packaging

Hi Stampers,

It's the weekend!  What will you craft?  I'm playing with the beautiful new Painted Harvest Suite from the holiday catalog.  Everything in this suite is gorgeous - I love fall, and the colors in the designer paper are outstanding!

My first project uses the stamp set, the punch, and the designer papers:

Don't you just love that sunflower?  I stamped it on Very Vanilla cardstock using Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze, and Chocolate Chip.  The leaves tucked behind it were stamped in Old Olive.  It's mounted with Stampin' Dimensionals on a 1-1/4" x 8-1/2" belly band cut from Early Espresso cardstock.  A short piece of 5/8" Burlap Ribbon & a sprinkling of Black Rhinestone Jewels completes the look.

This sweet little box is generously sized to hold six Hershey's Nuggets!

The nuggets are wrapped in 1" x 3" strips of  Painted Autumn Designer Paper.

The lid is decorated with a piece of 2-3/4" x 2-1/2" Designer Paper to match the nugget wraps.

Here's the recipe for making this box.  Adhesive (Fast Fuse or Tear & Tape) goes on each of the six small tabs.  This box design was CASE'd from Sam Hammond.

The Painted Harvest bundle (stamp set plus leaf punch - no die-cuts!) is my #1 pick from the Holiday Catalog.  Click the photo below to order yours and start stamping your own gorgeous sunflowers!

Have a wonderful weekend,
