Once in Nine Lives

Cats or dogs?  I love both, but there's just something about a soft warm kitty on your lap that melts my heart.  So when I saw the Nine Lives stamp set, I knew I had to have it.  Here's my first play with it to inspire all you cat lovers (or friends of cat lovers!)---

Isn't that sweet?  I especially love the sentiments in this set.  I stamped my kitty in black and added more color with a Light Smoky Slate Stampin' Blends marker.

These are some other color combinations I played with.  The kitty is a 2-step stamp.  You can stamp just the outline of the kitty, or you can add a second stamp to make your kitty have patches or tiger stripes. The Calico (upper left) was stamped in black then I added patches of orange with a Light Pumpkin Pie Stampin' Blends marker.

I've been using my new Rectangle Stitched Framelits a lot.  Here I used the largest rectangle to cut a layer of Calypso Coral to frame my card.

A kitty shouldn't be left hanging in mid-air, so a few strokes of Light Pool Party gives him a nice place to sit.

This is Buddy - my inspiration!  He loves a new box of Stampin' Up almost as much as I do...

Home to Roost

My card today was created with my #1 favorite Sale-a-Bration reward stamp set, Home to Roost.  Back in the day, we had a 4-H rooster on our farm who was a real character, so I have a soft spot in my heart for these guys!

This simple image is so easy to color with Stampin' Blends!  I love the earthy color combination of Crumb Cake, Cajun Craze & Bermuda Bay.

The stitching detail on the rectangle framelits is beautiful.  The set contains 13 different sizes of rectangles, so there's a size to fit any project.

The sentiment and the grasses are stamped in Soft Suede.  I embossed the 2-3/4" x 5-1/2" piece of Cajun Craze with the Tin Tile Embossing Folder.  A simple bow tied from Linen Thread finishes the country look on my card.

Sending you Sunshine!

Winter has its icy grip on most of the country this month.  Everyone I talked to in the northern half of the country last week said “send me some Florida sunshine!”  This is the best I can do - if you were caught in the polar vortex, I hope it brings a smile to your face!

I used Beach Happy in combination with my Sunshine Wishes thinlits and Sunshine Sayings stamp set.  This is a perfect set to use with the Stamparatus stamp positioning tool, as it's a 2-step stamp set.  The beach chair & umbrella are stamped first in Tuxedo Black.  The bright colors on the umbrellas are a separate stamp, as are the striped chair seats.  So easy to position using the Stamparatus!

I also used the "hinge-step technique" on this card - stamp the first chair, move the Stamparatus plate 2 hinges to the right and stamp again.  Repeat for the third chair.

The color gradient on "sunshine" was created by using a sponge dauber to add Grapefruit Grove ink to the bottom of the letters.  The sand was stamped in Crumb Cake using a stamp from the Waterfront set.  Gorgeous Grunge (retired) would also work well here.

My card has the fold on the left, rather than the top - cut your cardstock 4-1/4" x 11", score at 5-1/2".  The Pumpkin Pie layer is 4" x 5-1/2" and the Whisper White layer is 3-3/4" x 5-1/2.
