The Petal Pair embossing folder makes an elegant envelope and you can make it in the time it takes to crank it through the Big Shot!
It's a set of 2 embossing folders sized smaller than the standard sized folders - perfect for this application.
Place the envelope and folder between 2 clear plates and crank it through the Big Shot. Even if your plates are well-used, like mine, they will make a perfect impression.
The impressions create a rough surface on the envelope adhesive, so you will need to use a strip of Tear & Tape to seal it. This is true anytime you are adhering embossed cardstock to a project - always use a strong, double-sided adhesive tape.

So Pretty! That adds so much to the envelope & will make the card even more special. Thanks for the tip!
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting my blog today!
ReplyDeleteI love it!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea, thank you for sharing it!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! So simple and quick yet ads such an elegant touch. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this. Is there a way to use other embossing folders on the flap?
ReplyDeleteYes! I would encourage you to experiment with any of the standard embossing folders. Simply slip the envelope flap inside the folder and run it through the Big Shot as you normally would. The 3D dynamic folders would not work for this technique - the impressions are so deep that the envelope would tear. Have fun!
DeleteVery cool...I will be trying this soon...thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteAlso you could ink the embossing fold. ❤️
ReplyDeleteThanks, I love this idea and you are right!!! it gives the envelope character and mystery.
ReplyDeleteI try to use a portion of whichever embossing folder I've used on the card itself on the envelope or flap. Some work more easily than others!
ReplyDeleteThank you Pat! Have seen this before... but you have inspired me to actually go use it... right now!

Thank You. Now I know what to do to make the envelope special also. I love people who think outside the box!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this lovely idea to make the envelope look special. Brilliant thinking. :-)
ReplyDeleteThere's a fun set like these with birthday, congratulations, etc. on them! Been doing this for some time now and love the effect... Never occurred to me to use other designs...for some reason..so thanks the inspiration! Note: I do buy only envelopes with the square flap so I can use this technique.
ReplyDeleteIt works terrifically for hand deliveries, but I have ad the experience that they will often get spit out of the mail sorters and can take a long time to get to the recipient. :(
ReplyDeleteI have some small folders that are great on flaps. The one that reads "Congratulations" is one of my faves!
ReplyDeleteI’ve been doing this since I started making cards. My Sensai called me to ask how I did it!
ReplyDeleteI've used larger embossing folder to do this too.
