We Might as Well Dance

"Life May Not be the Party We Had Hoped for But While We're Here we Might as Well Dance"

What an inspiring sentiment.  We've all been knocked down and had our share of setbacks.  This card makes me smile - I hope it makes you smile, too.

The image and sentiment are both from Beautiful You - my favorite new set from the Stampin' Up Occasions catalog.  The image was stamped on Whisper White cardstock using Archival Black ink and colored with Bermuda Bay, Calypso Coral and Peekaboo Peach Stampin' Write markers.  I added a light wash of Soft Sky around the entire image using an Aqua Painter.  The card base is Very Vanilla, the mat is Bermuda Bay and the designer paper is from the Cupcakes & Carousels Designer Series Paper Stack.

From now through March 31 is your chance to get free products when you spend $50 or more in Stampin' Up products during Sale-A-Bration!  Purchase Beautiful You (#143637) plus Watercolor Pencils (#141709) and Bermuda Bay & Calypso Coral Stampin' Write markers (#142803) and choose a free product of your choice from the Sale-A-Bration catalog!

Now is a great time to join the Stampin' Up family and get discounts of 20% on every purchase you make!  Pay just $99 for $125 worth of products (your choice!) and get two additional free stamp sets plus a Sale-A-Bration item!  Spend $1 more and get an additional Sale-A-Bration item!  Contact me if you would like to learn more about joining my team this month or if you need a catalog.

Have a wonderful day and keep on dancing!

Beautiful You

Hi Stampers,

After a full month of wall to wall sunshine, we finally had a rainy day in Southwest Florida.  Far from being unhappy about it, I took advantage of the lull in outdoor activities to play with my new goodies from the Occasions Catalog!

My first choice was the gorgeous new stamp set titled "Beautiful You".  I absolutely love this set.  It comes with a wonderful variety of sentiments and the images are so easy to work with, even for beginning stampers!

This card is one we will be making in my next class.  The image is stamped on a piece of 5-1/2" x 3-1/2" Whisper White cardstock using Stampin' Up Archival Black ink.  The coloring is done with Flirty Flamingo & Peekaboo Peach Stampin' Write markers.  The umbrella uses the paper piecing technique - stamp the image on Flirty Flamingo In-Color Designer Series Paper, trim and adhere to the image using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.  Mat the card front on a 5-1/2" x 3-3/4" piece of Basic Black cardstock.  Cut a 5-1/2" x 1" piece of Smoky Slate DSP; adhere to the folded edge of a Smoky Slate card base (8-1/2" x 5-1/2", scored at 4-1/4").  Line up the matted image with the opposite edge of the card base and adhere.

My second variation of this card was CASE'd from Dena Rekow - love her style!  This one uses another one of my favorite new products, Watercolor Pencils.  The image is stamped using Archival Black ink on Shimmery White, an excellent cardstock for watercolor techniques.  The umbrella is colored with Bermuda Bay, Melon Mambo, and Pumpkin Pie.

To achieve the soft, shaded look, lay just a little color along the edge of each section and use your Aqua Painter to spread the color.

Did you see the raindrops?  I created a mask by stamping the image on a post-it note and trimming along the top of the umbrella.  By trimming just the top edge of the umbrella, I was able to make it look like she was staying dry in the rain!  I added a drop of Bermuda Bay ink to the tip of my Aqua Painter and "flicked" the raindrops across the image before removing the mask.

Stay tuned later this week for some more ideas using Beautiful You!

Happy Stamping,
Pat
