Triangular Treat Box

Hi Friends, welcome!. I found a new style of treat box to share with you that I've had so much fun making. It's this triangular box -

The outside section is a wrap-around belly band that slides off to reveal this -

It's fun to see everyone's reaction when they pop this open! Holds one Lindor truffle perfectly.

Here's what you need to make this box:

6" x 6" piece of Designer Paper
2" x 7-1/2" piece of coordinating cardstock
1-7/8" x 4" piece of Designer Paper for the banner

Starting with the 6" x 6" piece of Designer Paper, score the full length of the paper at the 2" mark on all 4 sides. I used the 2019-2021 In-Color designer series paper pack for this step.

With a stylus (I used the stylus tip on my Take Your Pick tool) and a ruler, draw the diagonal lines on each of the 4 corner sections as shown.

Next, use the stylus and ruler to draw the diagonal lines in the top & bottom center section, as shown. Measure 3" from either corner to find the center of the square, then draw a line going to each of the 2 bottom corners. A pad of paper (like a notebook) makes a good surface to do this on, as it has just enough give to make a good impression but not enough to tear the cardstock.

Using long-bladed scissors, trim off each of the four corners as shown in the grayed out section on the template.

Your designer paper should look like this. Now you're ready to fold & burnish on all the scorelines.

Squeeze the folds together to form the triangle shape and fold the 2" x 7-1/2" strip of cardstock around, pinching it at the corners. Burnish the creases on the belly band with a bone folder. Wrap it around the box and secure the ends together with liquid glue.

Score the 4" long piece of designer paper in the center at 2". Flag both ends using the Triple Banner Punch. Attach it on top of the belly band with liquid glue.

This is the largest snowflake from the Seasonal Layers Dies. I think the Ice Stampin' Glitter looks just like sugar! A drop of liquid glue keeps it from flaking off.

Stamp this sentiment from Itty Bitty Christmas on white cardstock & use a 1-1/8" punch or die to cut it out. Attach the sentiment and the snowflake with liquid glue.

Stampin' Up Stocking Stuffers

Hi Friends,

There are only 6 more Saturdays before Christmas. True story! Here's a super cute idea for stocking stuffers that's quick & easy.

This cute little box is sized perfectly for a pack of gum or a gift card (or two!)

Here's the template for the Gum Holder Box:

Instructions are for the Cherry Cobbler gum holder - substitute Night of Navy for the other box.

Cherry Cobbler cardstock - 7-1/4" x 6-3/4".

Score the long side at 1-1/2", 2", 4-1/2", 5".

Score the short side at 1", 1-1/2" on both sides

Cherry Cobbler cardstock for belly band - 6-3/4" x 1"

Wrapped in Plaid designer paper for the box 3-5/8" x 1-3/8", 3-5/8" x 2-1/8"

Wrapped in Plaid designer paper for the belly band 7/8" x 2-3/8"

Gold Foil cardstock cut with 2" circle punch

Whisper White cut with smallest die from Stitched Rectangles Dies

Score as indicated and trim away the grayed out sections using paper snips. Round corners as shown with corner rounder punch. Fold & burnish on all scorelines.

Using liquid glue as shown here, fold the bottom up & adhere, squaring up the corners. Do one side first; hold a few seconds for the glue to catch, then do the second side.

Round 2 corners on each of the designer paper pieces and adhere to the box with liquid glue. Now you're ready for the belly band!

Wrap the belly band around the closed box, using your fingers to pinch it at the corners. Not too tight, this should slide on & off the box easily. Remove it and burnish the folds with your bone folder. Place it back on the box & fasten the ends with liquid glue. The seam should be on the front of the box - use the 7/8" x 2-3/8" strip of designer paper to cover it.

That's all there is to it! To finished these off I cut a 2" circle. On top of that I layered a tree cut with my Pine Tree Punch and a stamped greeting from Itty Bitty Christmas cut with the smallest of the Stitched Rectangle Dies. Some red gems & a gold star are the finishing touches.

Holiday Table Treats

Hi Friends,

Today I want to share how to make a cute little treat holder that would be perfect for the holidays.

This is a quick & easy self-closing box made from Let It Snow Designer Paper and the coordinating stamp set, Snowman Season.

The box opens by gently squeezing the sides - it's big enough to hold several candies!

I decorated both sides of the box - snowman on one side, sentiment on the other.

Here are all the details -

Cut Designer Paper 4-1/2” x 6-1/2”.
Score the short side at 7/8” & 3-5/8”.
Score the long side at 3” & 6”.
For the bottom of the box, score at 1-1/2” & 4-1/2”, stopping at the first horizontal scoreline. If your paper has a one-way design, be sure to take that into consideration when choosing which side will be the bottom!
Using a ruler & bone folder or scoring tool, make 4 diagonal scorelines as shown.
Cut away the grayed out squares on 2 corners. The section that is left will be the tab to hold the box closed – cut a slight angle on each side of this tab for a better fit.
At the top, cut on the vertical scoreline, stopping at the first horizontal scoreline.
At the bottom, cut the 3 vertical scorelines, stopping at the first horizontal scoreline.
Fold & burnish on all scorelines.
Round corners where indicated with a corner rounder punch.
To assemble, fold in the side tab; add Tear & Tape or liquid glue; fold the box over onto the tab. Fold in the 4 bottom tabs, squaring the corners; secure with Tear & Tape or liquid glue.
The ribbon closure is optional; this box will stay closed very nicely without it.
