Bridge Fold Using Come Sail Away

Hi stampers, welcome to my blog.  Today I'm sharing a fun fold card that's been around for a long time, but it's new to me!  This bridge fold is the perfect style for the little scene I had in mind...

These blues are gorgeous together.  This card uses Night of Navy, Balmy Blue, Blueberry Bushel, and Seaside Spray.  The bridge fold gives great dimension - the sailboats look like they're sailing away to the horizon!

Here's the recipe for this card:

Night of Navy cardstock 8" x 4-1/4".  Score the long side at 1-1/4", 2-1/2", 5-1/2" & 6-3/4".
Center section of Whisper White cardstock is 2-7/8' x 4-1/8".
Designer paper for sides 1" x 4" (2 pieces)
Night of Navy cardstock 5-1/2" x 1-1/4" for the horizontal "bridge"
Seaside Spray cardstock 5-1/4" x 1" for decorating the "bridge"

I used a 2-1/2" die to cut a circle from a Post-It sticky note & used it as a mask on the white section.  I took another sticky note & covered the top half of the circle to create the horizon then sponged Blueberry Bushel on the bottom of the circle.  Then I removed the sticky note covering the top half of the circle and sponged on Balmy Blue for the sky.

Did you know...

When sponging 2 or more colors, always work from dark to light.  That way if you overlap a bit, it won't be noticeable.

The "bridge" is attached last after you have adhered the center section and side designer papers.  Fold the card as shown here and attach the bridge piece with a short piece of Tear & Tape adhesive on the left & right only, close to the two vertical edges.  Folded flat, this card fits into a standard A2 envelope.  I love that!

The water on the bridge section is a stamp from High Tide.  It's stamped in Seaside Spray ink on cardstock of the same color.  The anchor trinket is adhered with 2 Mini Glue Dots.  I used liquid glue for attaching the sailboats and ship's wheel - be careful to put glue only where they contact cardstock or your card won't open!
