Free Cake

I've been stamping a lot of flowers lately but today I'm switching gears.  My last order contained a fun little stamp set that you may not have noticed in the Stampin' Up catalog called "Free Cake".  It's a sweet little set sure to bring a chuckle to your day!  If you're old enough to remember having a boom box, you'll love this.

How fun is this - " You're not old...you're RETRO!"  Hahahaha!  This falls under the "Quick & Easy" category.  It's also masculine enough for the men in your life who are "of a certain age" :)

The colors I used on this trio of cards are Poppy Parade, Coastal Cabana, & Daffodil Delight.  Are you wondering why I chose these colors for my "retro" cards?

Wonder no more!  Here's a closer look at each card.

This one uses Coastal Cabana cardstock and the Polka Dot Embossing Folder.  The focal image on all 3 cards is adhered with Dimensionals so it "pops".  Just a side note, Coastal Cabana is much more of a beautiful turquoise shade of blue than it appears in this photo.

On this one I randomly stamped the boom box & two of the smaller images from the stamp set to create the background.

For the background on this one I used one of the images from the Swirly Bird stamp set, stamped randomly in Coastal Cabana, Poppy Parade & Daffodil Delight.  The Designer Paper behind the focal image on all 3 cards is from the Brights Designer Series 6" x 6" Paper Stack.

When you need to stamp a stack of quick birthday cards for the mature crowd, this stamp set is a great option!

Did you know?

When you need to cut a shape like this one, you might think you will save cardstock by cutting it from the edge of the sheet.  You will actually save cardstock and have less waste by cutting it from the center of a 4" x 5-1/4" piece so that you can still use that piece as a mat for your card.

  1. I still have my boom box! I use it to play music while I stamp! Love the colors!
