Mad for Plaid

I'm a big fan of background stamps and anything with a rustic or country feel to it, so this Buffalo Check stamp is one of my top picks from the 2018 Holiday Catalog.  The possibilities for color combinations using this are endless, and a plaid background works on any card without overwhelming the main image!

Here I've used Blushing Bride on the sentiment and the #2 stamp for the bear's bow.  The card base, checks and #1 bow stamp are Powder Pink.

Baby Bear is a multiple-image stamp.  There are 3 layers to the bear, which are numbered in the stamp set.  The Stamparatus makes lining up the images so easy!  I stamped the images from dark to light (#3 Soft Suede, #2 Crumb Cake, #1 Sahara Sand).

The bow is stamped in the same manner.  #2 - Blushing Bride, #1 - Powder Pink.  The image is 3-1/4" x 3-1/4".  It's mounted on a 3-1/2" square of Crumb Cake.

"Thank You from all of us" is a single stamp from One Big Meaning (retired). You can get multiple colors on a single stamp by inking it with Stampin' Write markers in place of an ink pad.

I've never been happy with the results from this technique because my stamped images always seemed a bit light & "washed-out".  The Stamparatus is a game-changer in that it allows you to color the image multiple times and stamp it until you are happy with the look.  Tip:  start with the lightest color (Blushing Bride).  Even if you go beyond where you intended, the darker color will cover it - look closely below the "H" in the photo above.

The sentiment is trimmed to 1" wide and flagged on one end with the Triple Banner Punch.

The Buffalo Check background stamp is a great addition to my craft stash.  My top 3 favorite background stamps are Hardwood, Burlap & Buffalo Check, not necessarily in that order!  You can order your own starting September 5, along with all of the other beautiful new products in the 2018 Holiday Catalog.
