Yay, it's an easel card!
An easel card is the perfect fold for this card. I love that when it's on display, you can see the joke inside!
I'm joining The Paper Players Theme Challenge this week - PP404 "Humorous".
Easel cards are fun to make. The base is a piece of Thick Whisper White, 4-1/4" x 11", scored at 2-3/4" & 5-1/2" on the long side. The front is a separate piece, 4-1/4" x 5-1/2". Here you can see how the card base gets folded like a tent and the front gets attached.
Use double-sided tape adhesive on the card base. The front can then be laid on the base and pressed down onto the tape, carefully matching the edges.
The front of this card starts with a 3-1/2" x 4-3/4"piece of watercolor paper. I used an Aqua Painter and Mango Melody, Bermuda Bay, Lemon Lime Twist and Melon Mambo ink refills to create the watercolored background. The image is stamped with Stazon black ink. I used my Stamparatus for this so I could stamp the cake three times to get the deep, rich black image you see here.
To make the flags, I cut & folded 3/4" x 2" strips of designer paper. I made a "handle" from a piece of Post-It to hold the small strips while I slid them into the Triple Banner Punch to flag the ends. Note that I punched them while they were folded so that the ends match up perfectly. I ran a strip of Snail Adhesive on the back of each and folded them over a piece of Whisper White twine.
The twine is attached to the back of the watercolored panel with tape. The designer paper strip behind this panel is 2" x 4-1/4". The oval is attached with Stampin' Dimensionals - this holds the card open for display.
Did you know?
A fun way to embellish your envelope is by adding designer paper to the flap. Simply lay the flap over the edge of the back side of the DSP and make light pencil marks at the corners. Then use your paper trimmer to make the cuts & adhere the paper to the envelope with Snail tape adhesive.
