Sea of Textures

I've had a lot of fun with Sea of Textures since it was first introduced a year ago - I'm so glad to see that it's carrying over into the new Stampin' Up catalog!

Inky the Octopus (my name for him, not SU's) is stamped here in Night of Navy & cut with the matching die-cuts.

The first step in creating this card is to die-cut the window on the card front.  The sentiment on the card front is stamped next in Night of Navy, then finally embossed with the Subtle Embossing Folder.  Do not try to emboss first and stamp second - it will not work!  Been there, done that ):

I lined up the card front on the Pool Party card base (without adhering it) and drew a light pencil line around the circle to have a guide for stamping the seaweed.  It's stamped with Tranquil Tide, using the "stamping off" method (stamp once, then stamp again without re-inking in-between).

The die-cuts are all attached with liquid glue except for Inky, who's popped up on Mini Dimensionals.

If Sea of Textures and the matching Under the Sea Framelits are on your wish list, you can save 10% by purchasing them as a bundle before the current catalog expires!

Here are some other cards I've made using Sea of Textures -

Sea of Textures

Happy Thursday!  I'm taking a break from seasonal projects this week to share a fun card using one of my favorite bundles, Sea of Textures.

Such a fun card!  Here's how the background was created:

Place a strip of 1" Delicate Surface Painter's Tape across each edge of the card front.  I like to use this because it won't damage the surface of the Whisper White cardstock when you pull it off.  Press the edges down firmly then using sponge daubers with a circular motion, add 3 colors.  On this one I used Soft Seafoam, Mint Macaron & Night of Navy.  After sponging, add some seaweed on each side of your underwater scene using Night of Navy, stamping twice before re-inking.

Peel off the Painter's Tape and you're ready to add your greeting.  I like to use the Stamparatus to position it perfectly where I want it.

This one was sponged with Highland Heather, Bermuda Bay & Coastal Cabana.  The seaweed is stamped in Bermuda Bay.  The Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper seems to pick up the rest of the colors...beautiful!

The school of tiny fish was easy to attach using the Take Your Pick Tool.  I used a straight pin to place a dot of liquid glue where I wanted each fish to go, then picked them up with the tool and placed each one individually.

Which color combo is your favorite?

Sea of Textures Congratulations Card

Hello!

I'm having some more fun with the Sea of Textures Bundle today.  I love the "under the sea" elements in this stamp set -so different from what I usually reach for in the craft room!  I'm submitting this card to The Paper Players Celebration Theme Challenge - PP400.

This design was created using Night of Navy, Berry Burst & Mint Macaron.

Mint Macaron has been a favorite of mine for a long time, I'm so glad Stampin' Up brought it back!

I knew right away that I wanted the layered squares and the octopus as my focal point on this card but I struggled with the right background.  I tried using different designer papers from the Sea of Textures suite, but most of them were too busy or the colors didn't complement my focal image.  When I experimented with stamping the fishnet image, I knew it was the perfect background for this card.

The squares & the octopus are adhered with Stampin' Dimensionals so the whole focal point pops off the card.  The smallest sand dollar at the lower left corner is also popped up to balance things out.  Note that the legs of the octopus are backed with Stampin' Mini Dimensionals, but the head is adhered directly on top of the square image with liquid glue .
