Anniversary Wishes with Beautiful Bouquet - #GDP145

Hi Friends,

Happy Friday!  Hope you had a great Fourth of July.  We had a nice, relaxing day picnicking with friends, then watching fireworks from our front porch courtesy of our neighbors!

It's Colour Challenge week again at Global Design Project.  Kudos to whoever is choosing the color combos at GDP - this one is another beauty!  When I see a great color combination like this it sparks my creativity and it's so much fun to see happens:

These colors remind me of Rainbow Sherbet - yummy!  Another thing I love about this card is the sentiment: "Love isn't in the falling...it's in the staying there".  What a perfect anniversary greeting!

I chose this flower image from Beautiful Bouquet for my card because I thought it would be the perfect image for some ombre stamping.  Ombre is the French word for color that is shaded or graduated in tone.

The Stamparatus makes ombre stamping so easy!  To try this technique, you'll need a solid image stamp, sponge daubers, an ink pad and of course, the Stamparatus.  Gather your supplies and you're ready to stamp!

1.  Ink the entire image evenly with a sponge dauber and stamp it.
2.  Add more ink to the stamp, starting in the center of the flower but not going quite to the edges and stamp a second time.
3.  Add ink to the stamp one more time, concentrating it just in the center and stamp a third time.

Simple, right?  And it's so satisfying to see the graduated color develop with each successive stamp!

I designed the card with the "falling" flowers to echo the sentiment on the front.  The delicate greenery (Jar of Love stamp set) helps to soften the bold floral images and a few iridescent sequins add some sparkle.  The peek-a-boo cut-out design was made with a die from the Eclectic Layers Thinlits.

Did you know?

Sequins are wonderful to add just a touch of bling but they can be tricky to use if they're not self-adhesive.  The easiest way I've found to attach them is with mini glue dots.  Press each sequin onto a glue dot while it's still on the roll and lift the sequin and the glue dot off together with the thin blade of a craft knife.  Then place the sequin where you want it, press down with your finger and slide the knife out.

  1. Just love this card. The colours are pretty and soft. Thankyou for explaining how to do the ombre effect on the flowers, I was wondering about this as it really enhances them. An overall beautiful card.
