Lift Me Up with a Double Flap Fold

Hey Stampers,

I have a different type of card to share today - who doesn't love a fancy fold?!

It's called a Double Flap Fold, and was inspired by an Easter card made by Dawn Griffith.  I'm still on a mission to use up those designer papers!  It's amazing how many cards you can make from a single paper pack - they really are a great value.  This designer paper from Sale-a-Bration was the best value of all (free)!!  I've made dozens of cards from this paper in my classes and for my own personal use.

Without further delay, these are the pieces you will need to make this card:

1 piece Peekaboo Peach cs, 4-1/4" x 5-1/2"
1 piece Whisper White cs 4" x 5-1/4"
1 piece Night of Navy cs 4" x 3-1/2", scored on the long side at 1/2"
1 piece Watermelon Wonder cs 3-1/2" x 3", scored on the long side at 1/2"
1 piece Whisper White cs 1" x 4"
Extra scraps of Whisper White, Peekaboo Peach and Mint Macaron cardstocks
2 strips designer paper 1/2" x 4"
1 piece designer paper 3-1/2" x 3-1/2"
1 piece designer paper 3" x 3"

I used Carried Away Designer Series Paper (a Sale-a-Bration item).

Begin by adhering the 1/2" strips of designer paper to the 4" x 5-1/4" Whisper White piece.  If you want to do any stamping on the inside of your card, now is the time.  All of the stamping on this card uses the Lift Me Up stamp setI used Night of Navy and Smoky Slate to stamp a balloon and clouds - see photo below.

Fold the Night of Navy and Watermelon Wonder cardstocks on the 1/2" scorelines.  Center the designer papers and adhere with Snail adhesive.

Center both decorated pieces of cardstock on the card front as shown here.  Using Tear & Tape adhesive, adhere the 1/2" folded sections to the back of the card front as shown.  Adhere these 3 sections as one assembled unit to the Peekaboo Peach card base.

The embellishment on the card front was assembled and then attached as a unit.  Die-cut one Stitched Shape Oval from Whisper White and randomly stamp clouds in Smoky Slate.  Stamp two balloons using Night of Navy ink, one on Peekaboo Peach cs and the other on Mint Macaron cs.  Die-cut the balloons using the Up & Away Thinlits.  Flag the end of the 1" x 4" Whisper White strip with the Triple Banner Punch and stamp the sentiment using Night of Navy ink.  Assemble these 4 pieces using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

Adhere the embellishment to the smaller (Watermelon Wonder) flap.

The last step is to stamp and die-cut one cloud in Smoky Slate on a scrap of Whisper White cardstock.  Adhere it to the larger (Night of Navy) flap using Dimensionals, placing it so that the edge of the cloud overlaps the oval to hold the flaps closed.

I hope you will give this fun card a try -  mix it up by changing the cardstock colors to match the designer papers you have on hand!

All That Glitter!

Hi Stampers,

Have you ordered your free Sale-a-Bration 6 x 6 Glimmer Paper?  What are you waiting for?! Sale-a-Bration ends on March 31, but supplies of this beautiful paper may not last that long.  The pack includes three different colors, Bermuda Bay, Mint Macaron & Sweet Sugarplum.  They are gorgeous!  Here's a card I created with the Bermuda Bay & Mint Macaron:

My photo doesn't do this card justice, but hopefully you get the idea.  The glimmer paper behind the die-cut flower is so shimmery and eye-catching!  The die-cuts are the largest flower in the Special Reason Bundle.  The leaves are die-cut from the same bundle.

The sentiment is from Suite Sentiments - love the beautiful font on this one.  Such a heart-warming sentiment for a special friend!

The sentiment is stamped on Sahara Sand cardstock with Soft Suede ink.  The banner is flagged on both ends using the Triple Banner Punch.  I attached a strip of 5/8" Burlap Ribbon to the card front first, then adhered the banner on top of it using Dimensionals.

The card base is made of Thick Whisper White.  The mat is Bermuda Bay, and the card front is regular weight Whisper White.

Thank you for visiting my blog today!  Remember, this Glimmer Paper pack is free with any $50 Stampin' Up' purchase made through my website, but only until March 31 or while supplies last.  Click any link in this post or click the "Shop Now" link on the left side of the page to arrive at my website.

Happy stamping,
Pat

Keeping it Simple with Cookie Cutter Christmas

Hi Stampers!

Here's a sweet & simple card I put together using Cookie Cutter Christmas & Oh What Fun!

This card goes together so quickly that it would be great for a mass-produced Christmas card this year.  The reindeer on the Crumb Cake card base are stamped randomly in Crumb Cake.  Rudolph (see that shiny nose?) is stamped in Early Espresso and colored with a Crumb Cake marker, then punched with the matching punch.  His shiny red nose is covered in red Stickles.  Not a Stampin' Up product, but similar to Dazzling Details, only in Red.  (Hint:  Stickles takes a while to dry, so you would be wise to stamp, color, punch & add Stickles as your first step on this card!)

The striped DSP is a 1 1/2" strip from the Candy Cane Lane Designer Series Paper.  The Whisper White banner is 1" wide, flagged at one end with the Triple Banner Punch.  The greeting is stamped in Real Red ink from the Oh What Fun stamp set.  I thought the banner needed a little something extra, so I found the star shape in the Peaceful Pines stamp set and added them randomly in Real Red.

I hope you're having a wonderful holiday weekend!  To see all of the wonderful goodies in the new Holiday Catalog, just click on the image below to go to my online store.

Congrats on your new Home Tweet Home

Hi Stampers,

Buying a first home is a milestone in life and a definite cause for celebration!  This week a lovely young couple that I know moved into their very own first home and I made this card for them.

Aren't those little birds sweet?  I started with a piece of Whisper White and sponged on a few clouds using a stencil I cut by hand and some Soft Sky on a Stampin' sponge. The branch, birds and flowers are from Swirly Bird.  The leaves are from a different stamp set called Love & Affection. Colors are Emerald Envy, Dapper Denim, Peekaboo Peach and Daffodil Delight.  "Congrats to You" comes from Tin of Cards.

Here's how I made the birdhouse - I think you're gonna like this!

I started by stamping a piece of Dapper Denim cardstock with Dapper Denim ink and the Hardwood background stamp.  Then I cut a strip 1 1/2" wide to fit into the middle slot of the Triple Banner Punch.

This is how the back of the punch would normally appear when you slip the cardstock in it -

But, if you take the leading edge of the cardstock and pull it out of the punch like this-

You get a birdhouse as tall as you like!

The roofline is just as simple.  In this case, I cut a 2" wide strip of Crumb Cake cardstock and punched it with the Triple Banner Punch as you normally would.  Then without ever removing it from the punch, simply slide it forward and punch again:

You end up with a roof that fits perfectly on your birdhouse.  The bottom of the birdhouse is another piece of Crumb Cake cardstock cut 2" x about 1/8" on your paper trimmer.  I stamped a simple design on both pieces from the Tin of Cards stamp set for a little extra interest.  I turned the birdhouse, roof & bottom over and used Tear & Tape adhesive to attach the 3 pieces together on the back.  The last step is to punch a small hole in the center and adhere a piece of Basic Black cardstock behind it. When you are ready to adhere the birdhouse simply take the backing off of the adhesive and mount it on your card front.  An enamel heart shape in Peekaboo Peach is the finishing touch.

These little birdhouses are fun and easy to make using the Triple Banner Punch because the pieces fit perfectly together.  I want to try another card like this with multiple birdhouses in different heights and widths.  Maybe these ones will be on posts in the ground with flowers growing up around them!

Thanks for looking!
