Guest Designer for RRCB 124

Hi friends, welcome!

Today I'm excited to share with you the card I created as a Guest Designer for the Retro Rubber Challenge Blog.  This challenge is all about giving some more love to our old stamps - how fun!

This is a tic tac toe theme challenge.  I chose metallics, die cut or punch & twine.  I'm loving the opportunity to use an old favorite stamp set of mine, Vintage Leaves.  I used a trendy color palette to turn what's old new again!

My color palette is Cajun Craze, Gray Granite, Pretty Peacock & Copper.  The background is Hardwood (2014), stamped in Gray Granite on Whisper White cardstock.

The leaves are stamped with Vintage Leaves and cut with the Leaflets Framelits Dies (2015).  I stamped 2 leaves on Pretty Peacock cardstock and embossed with Copper; the other 2 are stamped in Cajun Craze ink on Cajun Craze cardstock.

Pro tip for embossing:

The Heat Tool gets HOT!  I save my fingers from getting burned by using a simple wooden clothespin to hold the cardstock.  When it's not in use, it stays clipped to the cord so it's always ready to go!

The sentiment from Country Home (2018) is stamped on Whisper White cardstock using Gray Granite Ink.

One of my favorite things about this card is the metallic strip that runs down the left side.  Doesn't it look like ribbon?  It's actually a 5/8" strip of Copper Foil embossed with the Subtle Embossing Folder!

Details, details, details...

I tucked in 3 Bird Ballad trinkets around the sentiment.  The double bow is tied with Linen Thread & Cajun Craze twine from the Come to Gather Ribbon Combo Pack.  The sentiment is die cut with the Stitched Shapes Dies and adhered with Black Stampin' Dimensionals.

Here are links to the products used on my Retro card.  Although the Hardwood stamp is retired, some woodgrain Designer Paper would be a good option.  Vintage Leaves and the coordinating dies are also retired; consider substituting Colorful Seasons or Gather Together.
