Bloomin' Hearth Thinlits & Clearance Rack Refresh

Hey Crafty Friends,

By now you've probably heard that we are counting down the days until the brand-new Stampin' Up catalog comes out. Get your sticky notes & wish lists ready! Before that happens, though, some things have got to go. Old with the old, in with the new. A lot of my old favorites are retiring with this catalog and I've been feeling sentimental, so I've been pulling some of them out this week to play with & share with you.

The Bloomin' Heart Thinlits are one of my all-time faves. The heart is so beautiful and intricately detailed...I've used this for weddings, Valentines, engagement congrats, bridal shower invitations, thank-you's, you get the idea. It's definitely a good value! There is a matching stamp set too, but the thinlits stand alone just fine.

I love the simplicity of this design. It doesn't get much easier than this - the base is made of Crumb Cake cardstock, the heart is die-cut from Very Vanilla and the sentiment is stamped in Early Espresso. Finish it with a few pearls and a bow tied from Linen Thread and you're finished! Simply elegant.

The Bloomin' Hearth Thinlits and the matching Bloomin' Love stamp set will be gone after May 31 (or sooner if supplies are exhausted).

Bird Banter

Hey Crafty Friends,

I've been working on honing my coloring skills with my new Stampin' Blends. I have to admit, coloring has never been my favorite thing, but the beautiful images I've seen colored with alcohol markers are so inspiring that I'm determined to get better at it! Bird Banter seems like a good set to practice with - the images have a lot of opportunity to blend different colors together, plus these birds are stinkin' cute!

I really like the way this turned out. I started coloring with the lighter marker of each color, added a little shading with the darker one, then went back over it with the lighter marker to blend it all together. The Color Lifter has turned out to be my best friend - anyplace where I felt it was too dark or I wasn't happy with the blend, I just went over it with this little baby and fixed it right up.

Even in the close-up it doesn't look too bad!

I added two 1/2" strips of designer paper to the inside to match the card front. Everything I used is listed below with the exception of the black & white striped paper which was from a retired paper stack. I have a confession to make...this birthday card is for a friend and even though I didn't forget his birthday, I'm mailing this a couple of days late just so I can use this cute sentiment! Is that wrong? LOL

Here's my envelope decoration. I think I'll be making a lot more of these cards to have on hand. It was fun to see the images come to life with color and the sentiments all bring a smile to your face!

More Fun with Waterfront

Hi Friends,

Today I'm sharing another fun little card with you that I made using the Waterfront photopolymer stamp set.

All of the images you see here are part of the Waterfront stamp set except for the sentiment. We made this card at class last month and everyone loved it! This is a side-opening card - cut a piece of Crumbcake cardstock 4-1/4" x 11" and score in the middle at 5-1/2".

The images are stamped on a Whisper White panel, 4-1/4" x 3-1/2". The Bermuda Bay mat behind it is 4-1/4" x 3-3/4". A piece of Linen Thread is wrapped around twice and tied in a bow. The sentiment is stamped in Early Espresso, die-cut using the Stitched Shape Framelits and adhered with Stampin' Dimensionals.

The matching envelope adds a professional touch. All of my students know my mantra..."No Naked Envelopes!"

This is what I call a "Best Buy" stamp set. Priced at only $17, there are dozens of variations you can make using only this one set. In addition to beach scenes like this one, you can make scenes with mountains and evergreens! The random paintbrush images can be clouds, water, sand, grass, or anything else your imagination can dream. There are 6 sentiments included with this stamp set, but any sentiment you have can be used to create the perfect card for any occasion.
