Another Look at Wood Words

Hi Stampers,

Have you seen the sweet crates you can create with the Wood Words bundle?  They're a great way to give a little treat to someone special.  But it's not just for crates - this set makes beautiful cards, too!

The one on the left uses Bermuda Bay, Basic Black & Whisper White with just a touch of Peekaboo Peach for good measure.  The one on the right is created from Daffodil Delight, Basic Black & Whisper White.

I think this is my fave.  These colors have such a fresh, summery feeling to them.  The background was created with the Hardwood stamp on Whisper White.  I stamped the floral pattern diagonally & colored in some of the flowers with a Daffodil Delight marker.  The rooster die-cut is included with the Wood Crate Framelits (part of the Wood Words bundle - save 10%).  The design on the Daffodil Delight stitched ribbon reminds me of chicken scratchings!  I used some Glitter Enamel Dots on this one, too.

Both versions of this card use an oval from the Stitched Shapes Framelits.  I made several of these cards, and on some I added an extra scalloped oval for another pop of color.  The scalloped oval is found in the Layering Ovals Framelits.  As you can see, the sizes from both sets of Framelits work together or alone!  On this card I added a strip of 5/8" burlap ribbon.  The coloring on the spray of flowers was done with a Peekaboo Peach marker.  You could also use a Blender Pen & Peekaboo Peach inkpad to get this look.

The oval is attached with Stampin' Dimensionals.  The banner is attached directly to the oval on the right end with Snail adhesive.  The left end is attached with one Dimensional so it matches the height of the oval.  Hopefully you can see what I mean in the photo!  "Hello Friend" is embossed with White Stampin' Emboss Powder on a 1/2" strip of Basic Black cardstock and the ends of the banner are flagged with the Triple Banner Punch.  If you're good with your paper snips you probably don't need the punch for a small banner like this.  Enamel shapes from the Brights collection add even more color.

I'm in love with the floral spray that is part of Wood Words.  It makes great backgrounds, but it also looks beautiful on its own!
