Free as a Bird

Welcome to my blog!  What beautifully detailed images you'll find in Stampin' Up's Free as a Bird stamp set.  They are perfect for coloring, or not!  I turned this little birdie into a Bluebird of Happiness :)

I love simplicity.  A good design doesn't need a lot of extra embellishments!  The sketch challenge at CAS(E) this Sketch (CTS #325) was the inspiration for this card.

The card front is a piece of Thick Whisper White 4-1/8" x 5-3/8".  The stitched rectangle die that I used is 3-1/8" x 4-1/2" O.D.  I laid the die on the card front and marked the inside with a light pencil line to see where to stamp.

I stamped the main image first, then added the 5 flowers.  Next I colored the bird, cut out the rectangle and used the Subtle Embossing Folder to add texture to the outside perimeter of the card.

The sentiment is embossed in white and popped up on Dimensionals.

A Good Man

Welcome to my blog.

Everyone needs A Good Man!  You'll like the stamp set too, lol.  Such perfect images for birthdays, Father's Day, or just to say "I love you & appreciate you!"

I was so pleased to discover that the Smooth Sailing dies fit these sentiments perfectly!  We have so many great stitched shapes available in the new Stampin' Up catalog.

The line images in this stamp set are perfect for coloring with Stampin' Blends.  I'm not great at staying in the lines, so I embossed the image before I colored it, which makes it much easier.  Both of the sentiments are popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Best Catch

Welcome to my blog!

My hubby has a birthday coming up soon, so I've been working on a card to celebrate his special day.  Being a fan of fishing and boating, Best Catch is perfect!

I just love the way this fish looks larger than life!  I stamped him on watercolor paper and colored him with Old Olive, Coastal Cabana & Cajun Craze using an AquaPainter.  I transformed the fish into an embellishment by adding a second layer of watercolor paper to the back and embossing with Clear Embossing Powder!  Credit goes to Tammy Shaia of Be Creative Stamping for this idea.

The sentiment is embossed with Copper Embossing Powder.  To create the scene, I first stamped the fisherman with Early Espresso.  Then I used sponge daubers to add Coastal Cabana & Bermuda Bay for the water.  The darker Bermuda Bay patch in the water is stamped with one of the images from Waterfront.  The trees around the edge of the lake (also from Waterfront) are stamped with Old Olive.

I added another fish on the inside - to get the two-tone effect I sponged Old Olive & Coastal Cabana directly onto my stamp.

Of course I had to add yet another fish to the envelope - no naked envelopes here!
